The Bamboo Brace - Adult (XL)
Product Description: The Bamboo Brace is a dynamic elbow splint for children and adults with special needs that assists them by aligning the elbow at more favourable angles in order to learn and re-learn gross and fine motor skills. The Bamboo Brace is sold with 5 flexible and interchangeable support stays of varying resistance and The Bamboo Brace Teen XL / Adult Single Brace fits larger teens as young as 13-15 years through adulthood.
As a rehabilitation tool for physical and occupational therapy, The Bamboo Brace Teen XL/Adult Single Brace is excellent for both cases of spasticity (i.e. hemiplegia cerebral palsy, stroke) and weakness (i.e. brachial plexus injury BPI, low muscle tone). In both situations, the dynamic re-alignment of the elbow assists children and adults in gaining strength and control of key joints and musculature that are critical to the development of gross and fine motor skills. If your child is a participant in Constraint Induced Movement Therapy (CIMT) and Bimanual Training (BT) The Bamboo Brace is also an outstanding adjunct to both therapeutic approaches when used on the involved side.

Recommendations:
The person should have 6-7" of space above the elbow before the underarm and below the elbow before the wrist. To ensure a secure fit and performance, we recommend 3/4" as the minimum amount of overlap on the wrap-around portion.
Notes:
The Teen (XL) / Adult is the newest addition to our product line and is designed for children in the middle to later teenage years to through adulthood. A full 6-7” above and below the elbow is recommended for this size and nearly full passive range of motion is helpful in determining its effectiveness in rehab situations as opposed to a contracture management tool.
